8 Balls

Sponsor 2015
About the Band
The 8-Balls band formed in 2009 when a few of us old musician friends decided they wanted to get a band together with the goal to play fun, upbeat music. Most of the members had all played together previously.  "Playing together was like jumping back on the bicycle."
Band Members
Vince Vigliotti - Lead guitar & vocals
Kathy Marr Lead vocals, rhythm & electric guitars
Mark Weaver, Lead vocals, keyboards, percussion
Doug Workman, drums & backup vocals
Michael Greco, Bassist & backup vocals

"I always knew I wanted to sing. I started taking guitar lessons from a neighbor when I was 10 years old. After a hiatus to raise my three children, I started back up with some friends in a basement band in 1990. We formed the band Knucklehead and played the local circuit for about 10 years. Vince Vigliotti and I have been performing as an acoustic duo since 1999. I was with the band Deny Everything from 2006 till 2009. My musical influences are Motown R&B, Tina Turner, Bonnie Raitt, Sheryl Crow, The Doobie Brothers, The Eagles just to name a few."

Has been influenced by a wide range of music, from the Drifters to Peter Gabriel; from Creedence Clearwater to Wilson Pickett. He stands on the shoulders of giants and seldom falls off. He says, "Music is guilty pleasure without the guilt." Doug Workman Bio - Grew up listening to 70’s and 80’s Hard Rock, started out wanting to play guitar but quickly learned I like to pound on Instruments! So at thirteen I moved to playing the drums and have been there ever since. Was in several local rock bands in the Detroit suburbs back in the 80's, took a 16 year Hiatus from playing but realized there was a big part missing from my life and starting playing again in local bands back in 2000 around the Baltimore area.

"I’ve been playing the guitar regularly since I was about 12 or 13 years old and I’ve been singing since I was in diapers. The types of music that I have played are: jazz, country, pop, folk, blues, rock and metal.  I took up the bass and the guitar a few years later as I followed my older brother, Dominic (1952-1995), into a life of musicianship. My first official band was called Wino." Other bands I’ve been in since were: Maximum Force, Shotel, Thunder Chicken, Nimbus, Bombabill, The Daryl Davis Band, Date Bait, Nightwatch, Brandy, Mock Turtle, Rave, Gizmo, The Whitewalls, The Jupiter Project, Knucklehead, The Danny Low Band, Flashpoint, Silent Knight, The Dads Project, The Carlton Richards Band and now The 8-Balls. I’ve also performed live with the Seth Kibel Quartet (and Quintet) and with acoustic singer/songwriter Craig Cummings. I’ve performed in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Virginia, West Virginia, Maryland, Washington DC, New York, California and Japan at places where the band members outnumbered the crowd to shows where the crowd numbered in the tens of thousands. I am also in an acoustic duo with my significant other, Kathy Marr.  I continue to play, perform and write songs - not for any large monetary gain; but to simply become more famous than I truly already am and to continue my goal to keep on spreading good musical cheer throughout the world. Yes, really.
